Keep the Global South together.

Bishop Mouneer Anis

The Bishop of Egypt, Mouneer Anis, is not going to GAFCON. He is going to Lambeth much as Jonah went to Ninevah (except, I expect, the whale will fly) in the hope that the assembled bishops will hear the message and relent.

The way he sees the issues before the GAFCON organisers, however, is of some interest (here). He seems to assume that, short of a collective act of repentance, Anglicanism is to divide anyway. He is keen to further the structural identity of the Global South:
The constitution of the Global South needs to be reviewed in such a way as to clarify representation and appointment of office bearers.
But his central concern is the potential dominance of Northern Bishops in the Global South. He suggests parallel development might be the answer. The Global South needs to keep together, evidently, but to to keep too close to its more northerly supposed friends.

(Not much seems to have changed on the GAFCON website since I looked a little while ago. But on the other GAFCON there are wise and true words. Thanks to MadPriest, again.)
