You will have seen that, over the last few days, there has been a certain kerfuffle on this blog about a posting from Anglican Information which appeared and disappeared, followed by an explanation from John Plant.
Penwatch speculated about 'a little power struggle' - well, difference of opinion is as far as I'm prepared to go, on the whole I think the result of insufficient reflection rather than malice - so, sorry, definitely no conspiracy and no intimidation. (And, just to make it clear, no way is this site going to take lessons from David Virtue.)
Nonetheless the result is a change in direction for this blog. It will - pending discussion over port and coffee in the oak panelled MCU Senior Common Room - focus on specifically MCU matters. I shall continue to edit this blog, for the time being at least. And I apologise to those who visit this blog in order to read more than that.
On the other hand may I invite you over to Not the same stream, a new blog through which I wish to continue some of the same themes as have been followed here (not least, I hope, Anglican Information and the Covenant). There are a number of drawbacks to setting up a new blog, mostly around getting noticed, and so I hope you'll come over to drink in this new bar without, of course, deserting the old one.

Well! I've just has a nice lunch, and was planning a short siesta when this came up.
I have to reply as I'm mentioned. I had guessed that there was an internal difference of opinion and I imagine that what's happened is that John Plant the Chairman and maybe others have pulled rank on the webmaster - which in the blogosphere is an unforgivable thing to do because it is actually censorship.
Ruth Gledhill must be laughing all the way to the cuttings room. She has successfully managed to get what was fast becoming the premier liberal theological society in the Communion, never mind the UK to backtrack in a thoroughly compromised way. It's so embarrassing - I cringe for you.
But I also fear for the innocent people in Malawi who are at the receiving end of forces (like those of conservative journalists) which are probably beyond their comprehension. Anglican Info is one of the few organisations that stand up for them.
I shall certainly patronise the new site and I guess that I will be edited out of the old.
By the way if you visit Ruth Gledhill's own weblog you'll see numerous complaints from people who have been 'edited' out. The fact that it looks as if she is now able to influence Only Connect as well makes me feel quite ill.
This is a sad day - MCU what a disgrace - shame on you.
Its only a matter of time before this disastrous and very public spat gets onto the David Virtue website.
Imagine what a story line Gledhill of the Times has now got, something like:
'Row in pro-gay liberal organisation as innocent journalist is pilloried'
Get your act together MCU surely you haven't let the likes of Ruth Gledhill get the better of you. poor penwatch is probably suffering from indisgestyon!!!!
